Rose State College Student Union Wins Annual Award; AGC Build Oklahoma Award In The $10-20M Education Cateogory

CMSWillowbrook has been awarded an Education Build Oklahoma Award by the Association of General Contractors of Oklahoma (AGCOK). Rose State College New Student Union, in Midwest City won in the $10-20M Education Category! The AGC of Oklahoma is a statewide, full service, non- profit organization for construction professionals. AGC member contractors are recognized as the leaders of construction performing over 80% of all commercial and industrial construction work in the state. The Build Oklahoma awards represents the Best in commercial building projects in Oklahoma for that year.

CMSWillowbrook is honored to work for Rose State College and partner with Beck Design, on the project. To help celebrate Rose State College’s long 50 year history, the college president and regents had a vision to consolidate the student services into a one stop shop facility that not only allowed the school to operate more efficiently but also make an impact on the student’s experience. Therefore, they decided to demolish their existing student services building and start from scratch and build a new 50,000 SF Student Union. It is home to a full kitchen and cafeteria, catering services, bookstore, a 400 seat ballroom, and multiple conference rooms available to students and the community. This state of the art facility not only brings a tremendous amount of value to Rose State College but also a significant amount of value to the Midwest City/ Del City Area. The 400+ capacity banquet hall fills a huge need on that part of the city for medium to large capacity venues. Another key element of the project is the overall design and how it ties into the existing campus which has slowly transformed over the last 50 years. While the swooping radiused footprint and large expanse of glass was very difficult to build, the final product makes a huge impression on campus while somehow fitting in with the previous additions and renovations.

CMSWillowbrook Project Manager, Micah Sheriff says “It was a great honor to be a part of the team that was recognized for the Rose State College Student Union Build OK award. The team I worked with on the project were a true blessing and the reason the project was successful. I appreciate and am humbled by this recognition.”

Rose State College Associate VP for Campus Operations Richard Andrews stated, “It has been an enjoyable and rewarding experience. I think what impresses me the most is the depth of knowledge I have observed from the CMS staff. From bidding to contracting to construction, the entire group has displayed a thorough knowledge of all phases of project development.”
